Ovidiu Island is located in Lake Siutghiol and is one of the places that represent a real attraction for tourists from Mamaia resort.

Legend has it that during his exile, the poet Ovidius Publius Naso retreated to this patch of earth to write his lyrics and thus the island received its name. In fact, no evidence was ever found to confirm what was said.

In past times the island was populated by fishermen but also by gardeners who took advantage of the fertile soil here. But once identified with its tourist potential, Ovidius Island has been transformed into a place of relaxation for tourists.

On the island between the rich vegetation is arranged a tourist complex for those who want to stay here for a few days, but also a restaurant arranged rustically in the style characteristic of the area.

The access to the island is made with the vessels leaving the Mamaia Casino area at regular intervals.
